Founding of the Family Farm

1928

Our family's agricultural journey began when John and Mary Lawrence purchased 160 acres of fertile land, establishing a diversified family farm focused on corn, wheat, and livestock. This marked the humble beginnings of what would eventually become a cornerstone of the local agricultural community.

First Generation

1955

Farm Expansion and Mechanization

Under the leadership of their son Robert, the farm expanded its acreage and invested in modern machinery, including the first tractor and combine. This period saw significant increases in yield and efficiency, solidifying the farm's position as a key producer in the region.

Transition to Grain Storage Services

1978

Recognizing a growing need in the community, the family constructed its first on-farm grain storage bins, initially for their own harvest. Soon after, they began offering storage and drying services to neighboring farmers, marking a pivotal shift towards commercial agricultural services.

Second Generation

1992

Construction of First Commercial Elevator

Led by the third generation, Sarah and James Lawrence, the family made a bold move by building their first dedicated commercial grain elevator. This state-of-the-art facility allowed for larger-scale grain handling, processing, and distribution, officially transforming the business into a commercial elevator operation.

Modernization and Capacity Expansion

2015

Under the current leadership, the commercial elevator underwent a major modernization project. This included upgrading to advanced automation systems, increasing storage capacity, and enhancing logistical capabilities to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving agricultural market.

Fourth Generation

Building on Tradition

From family farm to commercial grain elevator, our evolution reflects our commitment to serving the agricultural community with integrity and expertise.

Each generation has brought new capabilities while maintaining the core values that define Prairie Ridge Grain LLC.
